The Voice of Free Planet X : Episode 144: I Want Candy

True stories of fictional people, from Jadzia Axelrod

Episodes

Episode 144: I Want Candy My good and well-read friend Dan joins J.R. Blackwell and I in a roundtable--or is it salon?  It may be a salon--about candy literature, comics and movies.

It is also revealed that J.R. and I saw Bumblebee on the University of Pennsylvania's campus during the filming of TRANSFORMERS 2.

It's okay to be jealous.

  • THE INCREDIBLE HULK was definitely candy cinema, but I enjoyed it. Of course, I\'m an Edward Norton fanboy, so I\'m a little biased. :) As far as candy literature is concerned, I love Jim Butcher\'s and Kim Harrison\'s urban fantasy series (The Dresden Files and The Hollows). They have good action, a lot of humor and some good strong character development, but they\'re not exploring much in the way of deep, meaningful secrets of the universe. Which is fine by me; I enjoy authors like Orson Scott Card, who wrestle with deep philosophical questions in their work, but sometimes I just want a little bit of adventure or soap opera to brighten my day.
